Hello, I’m Katherine! Welcome to the Vintage Kitchen. Here, we discuss all things history as it pertains to the world of culinary curiosity. On a mission to bring new life to old recipes, forgotten cookbooks, and cast aside kitchen items from the 1800s to the 1970s, this is where we all sit down at the table together and learn something new about the food we eat today and how it came to be.  Read more about how I  got started on this marvelous adventure here…

Snow day = soup day! Our BIG snow day is here! With total expected accumulation up to 17” inches, it’s our biggest snowfall yet since moving to 1750 House. Over on the blog, there’s a new post featuring 13 recommended books that were serendipitously discovered in 2025. They cover themes of interior design, nature, and gardening, and spotlight interesting lives lived. They are seeing snowflakes yet dreaming of spring :) 🪴 Our spring and summer garden has arrived! 🌱 Based on successes from last year’s garden and learning a lot from a few failed attempts, we are super excited to be fine tuning our herb garden and trialing 18 new flower, vegetable, and herb varieties this year along with a bevy of our tried and true reliables. Seed starting begins next week for early spring flowers! 🌼 It’s a beautiful day for duck watching on the Connecticut River. 🦆
